The model

  • Workspace — the host team’s account (alignlane.app/{workspace}).
  • Relationship — one partner organization you deliver with, e.g. Acme.
  • Board — a shared lane for one piece of delivery inside a relationship, e.g. “Website relaunch”.
  • Task — a unit of shared work with a status, owner side, optional due date and source link.

Host, partner, shared

Every task has owner_side = host | partner | shared — who owns the next move. Marketing calls these agency and client; the product keeps neutral roles so the same model works for consultancies, studios and vendors.

Every task also has visibility = internal | shared. Internal tasks never leave the host team.

The shared projection

When shared work changes, AlignLane regenerates a sanitized snapshot containing only shared tasks and shared fields. Public boards, private links and the partner view read this snapshot. Internal notes are not filtered at render time — they are never in the payload.
