Share a Trello board without adding board guests

Export the whole board as JSON — lists, cards and recent activity — and publish only the cards and fields the other team needs.

What crosses into AlignLane

Default mapping for a Trello export. Every field can be excluded before import; unknown or sensitive columns are excluded by default.

What stays internal

  • Card comments and activity history
  • Checklists
  • Archived and closed cards
  • Members’ email addresses

Excluded columns are not stored. Re-imports match rows by Trello ID and update only what changed — see the import docs.

AlignLane vs guest access in Trello

Questions

Does the other team need Trello?
No. Read-only viewers open the AlignLane link. Sign-in is only required for identity or partner actions.
Is this live sync?
No. This is a bulk file import you can re-run. Live source sync is labelled separately when released.
Will re-importing create duplicates?
AlignLane matches source IDs where available and shows an import report. Duplicate-handling behaviour is covered in the import docs.
Why not just invite the client into Trello?
Sometimes that is enough. Single-board guests are free on Trello Standard and Premium; guests on multiple boards are billed like members. A board guest sees every card on the board they join — there is no card-level concealment inside a board.
